What is Yoga?

Yoga is a word from Sanskrit (Old Indian), In Dutch we could translate the word as "to connect. It originated in the area where India is located. The 'connecting' refers to uniting the body and mind and we can do this through breathing.

What yoga does to your body

  • Increase your flexibility. By stretching regularly, muscles become more flexible. 
  • Strengthens your muscles. 
  • Improves your posture. 
  • Strengthens your bones. 
  • Lowers your blood pressure. 
  • Helps you relax. 
  • Improves your blood circulation. 
  • Improves your oxygen uptake.

Scientific studies show that yoga not only leads to a reduction of stress and anxiety, but your ability to concentrate and mood improves as well.

"Yoga" is a philosophy from India and consists of several parts. The form we know, the physical form, is used in yoga to make your body stronger and more flexible, in preparation for your meditation. Other parts of yoga are dealing with your fellow man, eating habits and meditation.

When you start Yoga you create peace in your head and body. As a result, you experience more space for your own creativity and gain more control over your own thoughts and feelings. Your sleep is also improved. Physically you then also recover to be back in your power.

Chi Neng Qigong

Chi Neng (Zhineng) Qigong is a Chinese medical qigong form practiced around the world. The exercises are known for their powerful effect on health and loved for their simple graceful movements. Practice stimulates your energy (qi), brings peace to your mind and strength to your body. The beneficial effect is noticeable in every area of your life.

Kickboxing

Kickboxing is a martial art in which both hands and legs may be used. The sport has its origins in Japan and the United States.

You not only train your body, but also your mind.

While kickboxing, you not only train your condition, explosiveness and strength of your muscles, but most importantly you train your self-confidence, discipline, resilience and perseverance.

Ecstatic Dance

Ecstatic dance is a form of dance in which the dancer, without the need to follow specific steps, surrenders themselves to the rhythm and moves freely as the music takes you, leading to trance and a feeling of ecstasy.

The dance serves as a form of meditation and helps you cope with stress and gain peace of mind.
